Left county government and becomes a private non-profit organization

Accepted as part of the AbilityOne program, the largest employment resource in America for adults with disabilities

Supported Employment services begin

Initiated a capital campaign to raise $1,000,000 to build a significant custom building designed for manufacturing services

Opened Life Skills Adult Day Program

2000

Moved to new purpose-built manufacturing facility in Jennings Industrial Park, made possible by the capital campaign

2001

Began packaging non-fat dry milk under the Mountain Maid brand for the USDA

2007

Expanded the Mountain Maid product line to include low-fat bakery mix for distribution through USDA to domestic food pantries

2008

Expanded mission to include community housing services, including the purchase and support of two Brevard Supported Community Living locations

2009

Celebrated production milestone of 100 million pounds of dry milk packaged for USDA

2012

Introduced 11 new baking mixes to the Mountain Maid product line for Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support

2014

Began producing Super Cereal Plus for USAID international humanitarian food aid

2016

Nancy Stricker retired as CEO after 42 years at TVS. Jamie Brandenburg became new CEO

2018

Qualified to be a Living Wage Certified business

2019

Began Pre-Employment Transition Services program with Transylvania and Henderson County school systems, supporting 14 to 21-year-old students with learning disabilities

2019

Became the largest private manufacturing employer in Transylvania County

2020

Installed a new supplement line to accommodate growing commercial relationships

2020-21

LegenDAIRY campaign celebrating employees during the COVID-19 pandemic. TVS packaged and shipped over 35 mission household bags of INDM to 297 food pantries across the US, Guam, and Puerto Rico.

2021

Launched the Stricker-Alderman Fund to support TVS employees in times of crisis

TVS becomes Blue Zones Certified
