Flight is a matter of lift and drag.

Drag is what holds us down: judgment, stigma, artificial limitations. Lift is what happens when support meets potential, when purpose meets precision. That’s ALULA.

For more than half a century, we have created the conditions for lift: for individuals with disabilities to live their best lives and build self-reliance, for businesses seeking meaningful value, and for communities working to rise.

What began as an effort to create opportunity for people in our community has become a platform that uplifts work itself, through inclusive employment, proven services, and commercial partnerships that generate real impact.

ALULA isn’t just in the business of making things.  It exists to help people, and the systems around them, take flight.
Uplifting, all ways.

Where Did It All Begin?

The story of ALULA begins in 1967, in a small mountain town with a clear belief: that real, meaningful work has the power to transform lives. What started as a small support program for individuals with disabilities in Brevard, North Carolina became a foothold for those too often underestimated, a place to belong, contribute, and grow.

The scale was small. The purpose wasn’t. Momentum came not from expansion for its own sake, but from staying true, offering opportunity without condescension, and support without limits.
